Salvation Army Donations

Second Largest charity organization in the United States is Salvation Army. Salvation Army Donations reach up to $2 billion per year which is really a great sum of money, even for an organization of that caliber.

Salvation Army Donations are actually a Protestant church founded organization. It was founded back in 1865 originally from the United Kingdom, but they have spread their work internationally over more than hundred countries. The founders of Salvation Army are William Booth and Catherine Booth.

The primal name given to this charity organization was "East London Christian Mission", but then a incident occurred and the name was changed to Salvation Army.
In 1878, while dictating a letter to his secretary, William used the expression "volunteer army" to label the organization, and when his son heard the word "volunteer" and argued that he is no volunteer but a regular. Then William ordered his secretary to change the word "volunteer" to "salvation". This is how the Salvation Army name was born.

This year in particular we are witnessing a drop in Salvation Army Donations.

There are, on the other hand, more and more of those in need. This year, Salvation Army Donations came up with a "Christmas in July" campaign because of this.

What we hear from most of the charities, right now, is that those in need of money donations for all sorts of reasons is outweighting the amount of money that has been given to charities. This is a new trend, unfortunatelly. In the past, the society was able to handle the need, and the Salvation Army Donations were sufficinet to cover most of the needs of the poor across America, and other countires where Salvation Army Donations were gathered at. This is also visible in other charity organisations. What is a bit disturbing is the fact that bussinesses are closing and donations from really big corporations are also droppig.

On the brighter side, the non-profit organizations are seeing an increase, and even though the number of gits is smaller than before, at least the number of the donors is currently on the rise.

So the conclusion is that individuals, people like you and me, who aren't (or weren't) typically donors are reching into their budget to "spare some change". This also gives us hope in humanity and social sensitivity.

What Salvation Army Donations still crave for are foods, emergency funds, emergency food, and the programs that are in progress right now.
